Space Race ********** .revision 01 Careers in space: there should be many possible combinations of following careers, player can do whatever he wants, but storylines (non-linear) should be designed in few main ways : 0 - Personal career : - you don't know who are you and you want to know it, but the way is long .... 1 - Action career : - subtypes : military , pirate , bounty hunter 2 - Trade careers : - subtype : rare things colector , trade imperium builder 3 - Explorer - subtype : colonizator , uncharted area explorer 4 - Scientist - subtype : astronomist , biologist , (alien) artifacts developer These are only main quest ways and general topic, but they can be combined , for example : - when you explore uncharted area and find big rich planet, you should create colony in there and boost you trading imperium or do some research there or whatever you want. Action career: ************** - you will probably want to build large ship or later fleet and to fly thru space destroying what you want or just you target. pirates would usually paralyze ship and steal cargo. - there are few alliances in space and usually each have army with free jobs. and as you increase thru ranks, you will have larger possibilities of actions. [ex. : sergeant can request free fuel , general can annouce attack on some enemy city] - by this career you can make lot of enemies , and when you are in one army another will probably hate you. Trade career: ************* - may be boring until you'll get a little capital, basic scheme : buy for a prize , sell for a double ! - you can create your personal trade imperium , but this is better when you have some home colony. - there are few another ways how to make money easily : mining , selling technologies to tribals , creating transport monopols (keeping it may requie a little army ....) - remember : money moves the space ! - as you would travel in big transport ships, wingmans and few battle gadgets may come in handy Explorer career: ***************** - buy food & water , pack in into your fast ships and lift-off for far solar systems beyond known boundaries - you may found rare things, enemies and any rare stuff there. - you may also become diplomatic travel agent among some systems Scientist career: ***************** - are you amazed how cosmos works ? do you want to see binary suns ? ever wandered what's beyond big bad dark black hole ? - or do you think that whale have relatives on some far solar system ? want to see three-trunked elephant ? flower planet ? - well, being a scientist is someway the hard way , you need big ship with lot of EXPENSIVE equipment (pirate would like to get it from your corpse too), armed with all arsenal which can be mounted to surive outer space. - said by few words : scientist = explorer+trader+action_man - but noone other can see such amazing things as scientists do. Creating COLONY(ies) :: *************************** One of major features is colonization of planets. This is nice, but it requies LOT OF MONEY, CARE and ATTENTION . It's good to choose planet with good life condition, so you don't need to buy OXIGEN,WATER,FOOD and everything else. Newborn colonies are targets of pirate attacks which see it as easy prey. == Defensive systems , fleets and training is good choice. Well grown colony can make many money however it can be : - trade center - many ships can come along and resupply - mining center - you may sell raw minerals, fuel and/or stuff manufactured in your colony - science center - sell technologies and other hi-tech things - touristic center - bring a lot of people to your nice-planet OR ALL of these , it just depend on you. Remember : as colony have people, they must EAT,DRINK,BREATH, ENTERTAIN themselves from job wages and thousand million other things. (so keep eye on general colony store and don't let them run out of water,oxigen and stuff.) As a colony owner you can do whatever you want there. Other types of career features : ******************************** - some kind of job for some "giant" company like global space bank or global insurance company
